TA 152 H1

Description

Here is my TA 152 H1 model from Revell which was one of the last fighters Germany made during WW2 and probably the best piston engined fighter during that time. Designed by Kurt Tank and was the ultimate version of the FW 190 design.

First of all I can say this is a rare kit and also an old one which is easy to notice once you see the parts.
Myself was disappointed in the lack of details and quality and here´s why:
- Most parts have lots of flash around them and needs to remove it and its around very thin parts so it will be very tricky to get them free without damaging them.
- 95% of the panel lines is of the old raised type so forget washing and being able to see those once you have painted the model.
- Not much details on this kit.
- Bad fitting of some parts, noticeable the wings.
- Some of the decals dont fit well or have the right size, one of them even broke when I tried to get it on the plane.
- IF this model could talk and you ask it where the cockpit is it would answer: What is a cockpit? The chair the pilot has? Yes, there is barely a cockpit or even instrument panel or joystick, just a chair and a pilot....
- Very few options in how to paint it.
- The landing gear have barely any details and the struts which pulls in the gear isnt even shown how to fit them to the plane nor does they have any holes or pins so it is a guesswork how to place them and did I say they had a lots of flash?
The air intake dont fit either unless you make the holes on the airplane larger.

The good:
-Its an easy model to build.
-Has an okay level of details on the underside.
- Its rare and one of the few models of the TA 152.

So my opinion: Dont get this model if you have money and time to order a better one from dragon, hasegawa, tamiya or any other brand, this revell one is very old and outdated today. If you give this kit to a pro builder he/she will be insulted almost due to how bad the kit is, more recommended to beginners rather than seasoned builders.

My last model of 2014, a model worthy of this bad year xD So happy new year and 2015 everyone! :D

Actually the kit isn't rare at all: Revell Germany re-issued it late in 2014, and you can still find them in the second-hand section of hobby shops or in the vendors' area at model conventions. Because the Dragon offering can be very frustrating to put together --- especially with the included Jumo 213E engine (try their Ta 152 C-0 sometime) --- I've seen some modellers cross-kit parts to improve the Revell model instead.

All in all, your kit did come off really well despite the obstacles you've mentioned, and I highly commend your effort. #1 (Word of warning: If you think this kit is bad, don't ever get the Pacific Coast Models offering of the Ta 152 H in 1/32; it's really a hybrid Fw 190 D-9/Ta 152 H!Rage)
